Join us on an extraordinary journey to Japan and Taiwan, where the Texas Economic Development Connection presents an unparalleled economic development trade mission. This mission is designed to forge robust international partnerships, facilitate trade expansion, and attract valuable foreign direct investment (FDI) to the Lone Star State. Be part of this transformative experience and unlock new opportunities for economic growth
Our primary objective is cultivating meaningful relationships between Texas Economic Development Connection partner communities and businesses in Japan and Taiwan. By showcasing the advantages of investing in your jurisdiction, we aim to foster a thriving economic landscape.
With over 400 Japanese companies operating in Texas, including many notable North American headquarters of major companies like Toyota Motor North America and Kubota Tractor, Japan is a logical market to explore.
The strong biotechnology sectors in Texas and Taiwan, along with the overlap of energy, biotechnology, smart machinery, and defense industries, make Taiwan an excellent fit for the Texas economy.
In addition, both Japan and Taiwan present excellent opportunities for Texas economic developers for several important reasons. Both are strong economic powerhouses boasting high GDP per capita and are leaders in industries that match the Texas industrial base well. Texas economic developers can leverage their established industries, engage with these markets, and tap into their economic power.
Both countries offer technological advancements, making them ideal markets for innovation-driven industries. Their expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, and biotechnology creates synergistic opportunities for Texas businesses and developers looking to collaborate and access cutting-edge technologies.
And lastly, the cultural and historical ties Texas shares with Japan and Taiwan foster a sense of familiarity and trust. These connections are a foundation for building strong business relationships, facilitating communication, and promoting understanding between Texas economic developers and potential partners from Japan and Taiwan.
To ensure maximum impact for participating economic developers, we will focus on the following target sectors:
A seasoned Certified Economic Development Professional, delivering a wide range of consulting, training, and coaching services for economic development agencies, small businesses, and their executives, Dave is Day One Experts' Founder and Managing Partner, an on-demand economic development and small business consulting firm.
